Carl Khalil has over 30 years of experience of franchise law experience. He focuses on the launch of new franchises, FDD renewals, and amendment filings. He previously worked as Corporate Counsel for Jackson Hewitt and Liberty Tax Service handling franchise litigation and transactional work. During his tenure at Liberty Tax Service, he implements nationwide franchise programs that allowed it to grow from 35 offices to nearly 4000 offices and 100+ Area Developers, with over $200M in franchise fees earned.
Sada Sheldon focuses her practice on trademark and franchise law. She handles trademark applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, “USPTO”, Office Actions, trademark licensing and assignments, the roll-out of new franchise programs, and the renewal of existing Franchise Disclosure Documents. She has handled litigation involving breach of contract, breach of non-compete, and trademark infringement. She is a member of the Virginia and California state bars.
Crystal Barnett serves as an attorney with us. She earned a J.D. degree from the Regent University School of Law in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where she graduated number 5 in her class, in the top 6%. Crystal also has a Master’s Degree in Education from Regent University and a Bachelor of Arts in Government from the University of Virginia. Crystal also currently serves as an Adjunct Professor at Regent University School of Law where she teaches Constitutional Law and Legal Research and Writing for the Master’s in Law program.
Office Manager and Paralegal
Jenny Kopp serves as our Office Manager and as one of our Paralegals. Jenny has an AS in Business Administration from Tidewater Community College, where she graduated Cum Laude. Previously, Jenny worked in the Accounting Department for a local auto dealership and before that, for the Virginia Beach law firm Poole Brooke Plumlee.
Jen Ward serves as one of our Paralegals. Her prior work experience includes being part of the Events Staff and Admission Sales for the Virginia Marine Science Museum, an Orthodontic Assistant, and a Customer Service Representative for Westminster Bank & Trust.
Trademark Manager & Paralegal
Ashlea Wehle serves as our Trademark Manager and as one of our Paralegals. Ashlea has a Bachelor of Science in Communications and Advertising from the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Florida. Previously, Ashlea served as a Marketing Assistant for the Sullivan Family of Companies in Honolulu, Hawaii and also served as a Merchandising Assistant.
